Oakwood is the oldest cemetery in the city of West Chicago. It was opened in 1858 and is located at the northwest corner of Oakwood Avenue and E. York Avenue.
Do not confuse this small cemetery with the very large OAK WOODS cemetery in Chicago, which is more than 35 miles to the east. Illinois death records and Chicago newspaper obituaries have sometimes used OAKWOOD rather than OAK WOODS.
