This project is for those who are buried in Owen Cemetery, Thomas Twp., Saginaw County, Michigan.

Owen Cemetery was named after Thomas and Mercia Owens who owned the property the cemetery is on. They farmed the land surrounding the cemetery, but the cemetery has a small hill in the center of it and when the Tittabawassee River floods, the water rises, but never to the level of the cemetery property. This hill makes the property difficult to farm, but perfect for a cemetery.

The first recorded burial in the cemetery was Susannah Adams in 1854. The cemetery was owned by the family until the death of Ferdinand Owen in 1938. He was the last family member who acted as Sexton of the cemetery.

It is unknown who or how the cemetery was run until Thomas Township's Department of Public Works took over the management of the cemetery in 1990, but someone recorded names and dates on a 'map' during that time.
