Address: 15 Boundary Street, Port Chalmers, Otago, New Zealand 9081
Opened in 1874. A surround of Macrocarpa trees was planted in 1890. This cemetery is in the North Eastern corner of a 10 acre block, the part not used for a cemetery is a Reserve, and leased to a farmer to graze stock, which keeps it tidy. The cemetery lies to the sun, is quiet, apart from the sound of the sea, birds, and the occasional vehicle passing. Difficult to see from the roadside. Access is through a gate and down a grass path. Care is needed. The Cemetery was originally managed by a Committee of local people. In the 1980s it was managed by the Silverpeaks County, then in more recent years has been managed by the Dunedin City Council. Source: Dunedin City Council.
