Richmond Memory Gardens consisting of twenty-six acres was organized in 1956 by L. C. Criswell.
Originally it was a tract of land belonging to John Brown.
In 1957 it was incorporated, and today, all stock is owned by Donald Lauck.
The first burial there was that of A. R. Remley in November, 1956.
In 1961, the American Legion Post 237 donated a plaque, and placed it at the foot of the flag pole, to honor the veterans buried in the cemetery.
The line of American Flags gracing the entrance on Memorial Day is known as the "Parade of Flags". Each flag represents a veteran buried there.
There is a religious feature in each of the gardens.
