This is the Progenitor Project that every South West African (Namibia) male Progenitor (Stamvader) [abbreviation SWASV] should be added to first

This project is for settlers in South West Africa (Namibia) and roughly covers the period 1850 to 1950.

The intention of this project is to be a hub of information on the South West African people who were Progenitors of today's Namibian population. The aim is to give information about all people involved in populating and colonising South West Africa. It is all-embracing and aims to have no political influence or connotation

Indigenous peoples will be covered in separate projects

The project is a work in progress - contributions are most welcome! Please add other headings as necessary.

A PROGENITOR is the start of the bloodline in a country. (So this project collects all first fathers of a line that still has descendants in Namibia.) In the case of each family of settlers to SWA, the progenitor(stamvader) is usually only the oldest father. On the tree, this is indicated by the suffix SWASV.
The Project will broadly cover the peoples of South West Africa under the following headings

Discovery

Early Missionaries/Hunters/Business Travellers/Other

Peoples of the country

Short history ===

  • Early days
  • German Colonisation
  • South African Rule
  • Independance

Settlers in every group ==

  • Eg Cape settlers, Dorslandtrekkers, Portuguese and Angolans,
  • German settlers and others
