Sand Hill Cemetery, Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida, USA:
Sand Hill is a very neglected Black cemetery located at the back of Mt. Pleasant Cemetery on NW 13th Street in Gainesville (Next to Sam's Club). It is surrounded by a chain link fence and extremely overgrown. There is no sign designating the cemetery. It was pointed out to me by a representative of Chestnut Funeral Home who happened to be at the adjacent Grass Lawn Cemetery for a burial. He said there were hardly any burials there anymore. This cemetery was owned by Hopewell Church. (In the database for the Alachua County Virtual Cemetery Project, this cemetery is called Hopewell Cemetery.)
This cemetery is currently being cleaned up by a Boy Scout Troop from First Lutheran Church.
