This is a genealogy project to test the assumption that mtDNA is a reliable indicator of 'country of origin'

Preamble: It is assumed that slaves took the 'port' of origin as part of their names, but with mtDNA we can estimate their country of origin.

With a database of entries we can:

1. Get a better estimate of the accuracy of that assumption.

2. When finding similar mtDNA from the same port, reach stronger conclusions that groups of immigrants came from the same country, on the same route.
