Profiles

The cemetery is located in Albany, Delaware Township, Delaware County, Indiana.

Strong Cemetery was conceived of when Reuben/Ruben Strong (1780-1835) (The owner of the land on which it is located) (MemorialID#58647185) went Bear Hunting with William Whicker (Whickcar) (1760-1851) (Memorial ID#82205945) the last Revolutionary War War Veteran receiving a Pension in the State of Indiana. William convinced Reuben that the land - located near a bend in the Mississinewa River - was a favorable location for a cemetery. Both Reuben (First to be buried in the Cemetery as he died within a year of purchasing the land) and William and several of their family members are buried in Strong Cemetery. An article on the Strong Family History was published in the Muncie Star Newspaper on 30 Apr 1964 featuring Reuben Strong's Great Grandson, J. Walter Strong, who was the local Superintendent of Schools.
