This project is for those buried in Sylvan Cemetery, Citrus Heights, Sacramento, County, California.
Citrus Heights sits on the border of Sacramento and Placer Counties. Land for the Sylvan Cemetery was donated in 1862 by early settler Daniel Lewis. It is the oldest cemetery in the county. The first person to be buried in the cemetery was James Horton who had originally come to the area seeking gold. Since 1862 the cemetery has been expanded several times to a size of 18 acres. The Sylvan Cemetery has a sign near the lovely bell tower at the entrance off of Auburn Blvd designating it a "City of Citrus Heights Historic Landmark."
