This is a beginning of a project that will unite the 3000 women who were imprisoned in and near Trutnov/Trautenau and forced to work from 1940/42 to May 1945 in the flax factories of Operation Schmelt (taken over by the WVHA in 1944 as satellite camps of Gross Rosen). All of them were Jewish, most came from Zaglebie coal mining reagion in Silesia (Sosnowiec and surrounding), some from Hungary, and a few from Těšínsko/Zaolzie/Czech Silesia - Teschen.
