Use of social networks in genealogy

Many people provide information about their families on their social network profiles, and it is possible to use that to expand one's family tree horizontally.

This project is created to facilitate discussion about the tactics of data collection, cleaning, publishing and also about ethics and linked issues relating to dissemination of information from social networks.

In order that Facebook doesn't grab your entire family tree while you are working on grabbing data from them you should do the following

1. Install Privacy Badger extension from EFF, then refresh Geni, and in Badger settings manually disable connect.facebook.com.
2. Follow instructions on How can I disconnect my Facebook account from my Geni account?
