Several of the graves are from people associated with Wake Forest College and their family members, before 1956. The college was moved from Wake Forest to Winston-Salem in the 1950s. In 1967, Wake Forest College became Wake Forest University. The first site of Wake Forest College in Wake Forest was purchased by the Southern Baptist Convention and became the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
