This project is for those buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Newport, Jackson County, Arkansas.
Walnut Grove Cemetery was originally platted circa 1865. Lots were original sold by Napoleon B Wishon, with upkeep of the cemetery depended upon the families of those buried there. Early in the 1900's, an informal Walnut Grove Cemetery Association was organized to solicit funds for maintenance of the cemetery. The Walnut Grove Cemetery Association was officially organized at the Newport Chamber of Commerce on Sept 30, 1920. In 1923, the Walnut Grove Cemetery Association acquired title to the cemetery.
