The WHITTENTON CEMETERY was the first cemetery at Blue Ridge. This cemetery is north of CR 406 and west of CR 404. It is not visible from either road. In 1876 Marion Andrew Whittenton donated land to establish a public cemetery--the Whittenton Cemetery at Blue Ridge.

This cemetery is owned and maintained by an active Cemetery Association and contains upward of 85 graves. There are sixteen un-marked and four unknowns. Two acres of land were deeded by M.A. Whittenton on March 2, 1885 (Vol. O, P591, Deed Records of Hamilton County) to be perpetually used as a burying ground or cemetery. Access to the grounds is thru gates and the roads are maintained by the County. The earliest recorded gravesite was February 18, 1864. There may have been earlier interments.
