This cemetery was first known as the Markham Cemetery and later as Pine Hill Cemetery. When surveyed in 1981 by Lucille Glenn, it was well maintained and had over 3000 marked graves.
This cemetery has had several owners over the years. The cemetery office containing burial records has burned down several times, with subsequent loss of important burial documentation.
