Hi! I have two drawings by Charles Henry Cazalet (1818 - 60) of the 29th Madras Native Infantry. One is a watercolour of a graveyard in Masulipatam, signed and dated 1858. It is a beautiful, large picture some 12 x 21 inches. As his mother Caroline Wahab was born in Masulipatam and as his younger broother, Peter Grenville, married Charlotte Jellicoe in 1859 in the same place, it is no surprise that Charles Henry was there in 1858 (perhaps to look for the place or house that his mother was born in).
The second is a pencil sketch, unsigned, of some tombs in Calcutta and with an inscription in a different and possibly later hand dating the drawing as 1872 (obviously the wrong date and therefore a later inscription).

P.S : CHC was a noted artist with a free flowing, cionfident style and some of his watercolours (not mine which are not for sale) are offered online by a dealer in Penang. Many of his views of Penang (where he was stationed with the Regiment, and his brother Petr Grenville of the same Regiment, between 1855 and 59) have been engraved and published. These are listed in a book on Penang views by Kim Chong Keat.
