In Denmark, there was a town named Galten until about 2005, when it was subsumed by another town. There is also a Galtenhof. These are both north of the Schleswig-Holstein line and so have always been in Denmark. The towns these Galtens come from are south of the Schleswig-Holstein line, and at the time they lived there, these were German towns. Whether or not their ancestors emigrated south from Denmark has not been documented, but is believed to be true by Edward J. Galten.
There is also a town named Galten near Lilienhammer, Norway.
