The Kingslands came first to Barbados, in the 1600s and remained there for 100 + years. The first Governor General of Barbados Island was Nathaniel Kingsland. The Kingsland family then came and settled on the Hudson River in New Jersey. My great, great grandfather Richards Kingsland was a peer on the Hudson River, he married Sarah Merrill Thayer and they were the parents of Fannie Kingsland, my great grandmother. They came to North Carolina when war was declared between the North and the South, because they were in sympathy with the south. My great grandmother, Fannie Kingsland married William DeLamont Daniel. He was the son of William Willy Daniel and Dolly Exum Alston. Fannie Kingsland and William DeLamont Daniel were the parents of my grandmother Willy Daniel who married my grandfather Robert Lee Alston and were the parents of my mother, Fannie Kingsland Alston, she married Benjamin Dixon Burton, and they were my parents. I am Willie Elizabeth Burton Daniel, I married Theodor Robert Daniel, and we were the parents of Jennifer Kingsland Daniel There is much history about the Kingsland family in Barbados
