The Somerby name goes back to England. There is the town of Somerby and the Old Somerby Church where a marble effigy of Sir Thomas De Somerby is. Many of the Somerby family members are buried in the cemetery outside of the church.
The American branch of the Somerby family was started when Anthony Somerby left England after his father had died and he landed in Boston, then he moved to Newbury where he was part of the original settlers..........
