Early this morning, the nominees for the 64th Primetime Emmys were announced. Were you surprised by any of the nods? While taking a look at this year’s nominees in comedy, we noticed that many of them had family trees connected to Geni’s World Family Tree. Zooey Deschanel received her first Emmy nomination for her role in New Girl. She’ll be vying for the coveted trophy alongside her fellow funny relative Amy Poehler. The two funny ladies are 11th cousins twice removed!

Poehler isn’t the only Saturday Night Live vet Deschanel is related to – Kristen Wiig, a supporting actress nominee for her final season on SNL, is her 15th cousin! And that makes Amy Poehler Kristen Wiig’s 15th cousin thrice removed!

Alec Baldwin is up this year for his 6th Emmy nomination as 30 Rock‘s Jack Donaghy. His co-star Will Arnett, who just happens to be Amy Poehler’s husband, was also nominated this morning for his guest stint as Baldwin’s nemesis on the hit comedy. Did you know the two are 8th cousins once removed?

Baldwin currently holds the Saturday Night Live hosting record with 16 shows under his belt. He is also Wiig’s 7th cousin twice removed!
