Nordahl Grieg

On November 1, 1902, Norwegian writer and poet Nordahl Grieg was born in Bergen, Norway. Already popular poet during his lifetime, Grieg became a hero in Norway for his resistance to the Nazi occupation. During World War II, he served Norway’s government-in-exile and participated in making patriotic radio programs in England. On December 2, 1943, Grieg was killed in an Allied bombing raid over Berlin.
