About Albert Lammertsz Myburgh

The first Myburgh born in South Africa and the progenitor of all future Myburghs in South Africa (his brother having no sons who passed on the name).

According to Die Myburghs van Suid-Afrika, he may have been born in 1669, according to the year of his coming of age and his death recorded elsewhere - but as there is no evidence to show this and it seems unlikely that the parents would wait until he was 3 years old before baptism, birth soon before baptism is assumed at this stage.
b2 Albert Lambertz * c. 1669 † 19.12.1749 boer Stellenbosch x Elsje VAN DER MERWE * 1693 †18.12.1745 d.v. Willem Schalk van der Merwe

Recorded as second son of Lammert Lammertsz and Aalje Alberts.

Albert’s land purchase transactions were complicated - several are mentioned in MSA 1st ed..
He bought land from his brother on the Liesbeeck and in Tafelbaai, 1717, other land in the Swartland (De Vogelsang) and Riebeeck Kasteel.
We can assume that he owned property in the Stellenbosch and/or Drakenstein areas, as there are several records of he and Elsje witnessing baptisms at both locations after 1711.

In July 1723, Albert was registered in the town of Stellenbosch.

Listed on a slave transaction in Feb 1716, purchase of Cupido, of Madagascar, here: http://www.stamouers.com/Shell.PDF

From son Albert's son Johannes’ biography on Wikitree, courtesy Geoff Gladwin: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Meijb%C3%BArg-9#_note-text-7 "Johannes Albertus Myburgh, was born at Idasvallei, a farm outside Stellenbosch, before 17 September 1719. His parents Albert and Elsje stayed there for around 30 years, prospering sufficiently, to acquire 'De Vogelsang' , a farm in the Swartland, a building plot in Table Valley, and 10 morgen land bordering the Liesbeek river."
