About Alfred Earl Barton
Alfred Earl Barton, son of Enos Ozias Barton and Obedience Goforth, was born Mau. 23, 1892 in Logan Co., Kansas. He married with NETTIE MAE FLEMMING, on June 6, 1921 at Winfield, Cowley Co., Kansas and came to Garden City two years later from Pretty Prairie. He died Aug. 14, 1984 in Garden City, Finney Co., Kansas and is buried at Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, Finney Co., Kansas.
Children were: Donna Mae (1925-1988; m. Bradford)., and Robert "Bob".
OBIT: Funeral for Earl Barton, 91, 707 Howerton, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Garnand Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Paulsen officiating. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery.
A resident of Garden City since 1923, Mr. Barton died Tuesday at St. Catherine Hospital. He was a leading farm and livestock auctioneer in Western Kansas. His career spanned 60 years, beginning with his first auction in 1914.
Born Aug. 23, 1892, in Logan County, he married Mae Flemming, June 6, 1921, at Winfield and came to Garden City two years later from Pretty Prairie. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, and bowling.
Survivors are his wife, at the home; a son, Bob Barton; a daughter, Donna Bradford; one brother, Ray Barton of Sarasota, Fla., a granddaughter and two great grandchildren. Eight brothers (I believe this should read '7') and three sisters proceeded him in death.
Friends may call from Wednesday evening until service time at Garnand Funeral Chapel.
A memorial has been established to the Arthritis Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
