Notes
From Errata and Addenda to Dr. Stocking's History and Genealogy of the Knowltons of England and America (1903), p. 2. The death of Widow Ann Tucker and the births of her two grandchildren (without mentioning their parents) are recorded in the journal of Rev. Peter Hobart, published in New England Historical and Genealogical Register, vol. 121 (1967.)
"Widow Ann Tucker died Oct. 8, 1675, leaving a will dated Sept. 21, proved Oct. 26, 1675, giving all her property to 'Paul Gilford, her grandchild, and Susanna Jewell, grandchild, sister of Paul. and names, in case of their death, her niece Elizabeth, wife of Nicholas Knell, of Stratford, Conn. (This Elizabeth Knell was Elizabeth, dau. of Gov. Francis Newman of New Haven, Conn., and widow of Thomas Knowles when she m. Nicholas Knell, a planter of Stratford, Conn., in 1650. See Orcutt's History of Stratford, Conn.)"

">Errata and Addenda: Pg 2. Gives a presentation trying to make the case that Ann, widow of William "Nolton" of Hingham, who married John Tucker, and died October 8, 1675, is the immigrant widow and mother of the Knowlton brothers. However, he quotes portions of her will and she gives legacies to others who appear to be from her first marriage, not any of them being Knowltons that I know of."
