"When the inventory of her estate was drawn up in 1740 it was stated that her son Roelof van der Merwe ran the two farms Wittenberg and De Hoop, both in Drakenstein. As the inventory was drawn up and signed on Wittenberg, presumably she lived with him there.
Her children are given as listed in the above inventory."

Geslagsregisters van ou Kaapse Families lists her as b3 CJB

Anna Prevot, *23 Januarie, 1680 te Marq bij Calais. Dogter van Charles Prevost en Maria le Febre. †circa 1740. Getroud in Junie, 1696, aan die Kaap.
According to Malan, Alet, 'Graves, Burial Customs & Dates of Decease of Huguenot Settlers' in Huguenot Memorial Museum, Franschoek, 1988: Anne Prevost died in 1741 (no specifics on month or day) and place of death and/or burial as Paarl. From research it appears that the active burial ground was in Paarl, not Franschoek, at the time. The original cemetry in Simondium was closed down in 1720, after which the new cemetery and church appears to have been in Paarl. The La Motte cemetry in Franshoek was only established after a petition in 1759 asked permission to bury dead locally and not in Paarl. So I'd go look for her in Paarl first... Sharon

--------- VASSA: http://www.vassa.org.za/files/2010/09/Jrnl16-text-web.pdf Schalk (b2), the stamvader’s eldest son, was born at Valkenburg (on the Liesbeeck River) on 14 July 1673. In 1692 he obtained an erfbrief to De Hoop (Paarl), a property that had been granted to his father by Governor Simon van der Stel. It was here that his wife, Anna, frightened off three elephants who rubbed themselves against an outbuilding, met ‘n logge geweer geskiet omdat sy bang was hulle sou haar huis omstoot. It is hard for us to picture elephants in the Paarl Valley until we remember that Franschhoek was originally called Olifantshoek. Schalk was a heemraad for Stellenbosch and later Drakenstein. When he died in 1740, he was survived by 11 of his brood of 17 children.
