Arthur Rubinstein (January 28, 1887 – December 20, 1982) was a Polish-American pianist. He received international acclaim for his performances of the music of a variety of composers (many regard him as the greatest Chopin interpreter of the century).He is widely considered one of the greatest pianists of the twentieth century. He was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom (USA), the honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire, the Grand Officier of the Legion of Honour (France), the Knight's Cross (Krzyż Kawalerski) of the Order of Polonia Restituta (Poland), Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award (1994) and many others.
