He was the son of Thomas and Agnes (Reed) Dyer. He lived his entire life at Weymouth. About 1676 he married Hannah Frary. Three children were born to them. She died in 1682.

Joseph married the second time, in 1684, to Hannah Baxter.

He lived on the old homestead and like his father was a deacon in the church under Rev. Samuel Torrey. He was made a freeman of Massachusetts in 1678.

1744 JOHN DYER was sued for feedom dues. by John Walling.

SLAVES - John Dyer owned 3, William Dyer owned 1.

TAVERNS - John Dyer Tavern 1737 to 1755 South side of Mattaphony River

at Douguetown. Milford Bridge.

1756 to 1762- John Almond had the tavern at Douguetown at the Old John

Dyer Stand.

JURORS 1732-1745- John Dyer served 10 times, William Dyer served 3 times,

BENJAMIN HUBBARD: Feb. 1, 1776 Caroline Co. VA, he was a wealthy landowner

and business man. Probably the father of Benjamin Hubbard of Wilkes county, NC,

who married the daughter of Elisha Dyer and Amy Laws Dyer.

Samuel Sewall wrote in his diary, 13 Oct. 1704; "Deacon Dyer of Weymouth, Mr. Torrey's right hand, is to be buried today. Dyd with a fall from's horse"
