About Lady Anne Colley/Loftus

Anne Loftus, one of my maternal 10th-great-grandmothers, was a direct ancestress of Sir Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington. She was the second (or the fifth) daughter of the Rev. Dr. Adam Loftus (1533-1605) who served as the Archbishop of Dublin and the Chancellor of Ireland. She had eight children by Sir Edward Blayney, to wit: Sir Henry (2nd Lord Blayney) (born 1602), Sir Arthur (born 1603), Anne (1605-1634), Jane (1606-1689), Mary (died unmarried), Elizabeth (born 1608 and died young), Martha and Lettice. Lettice was one of my maternal 9th-great-grandmothers. Anne was married first to Sir Henry Colley (1565-?), who was, at one point, the MP for Monaghan, and by whom she had at least one child: Henry (1591-1637), and second to Captain George Blount of Kidderminister, by whom she had at least one child: Elizabeth who married Robert Blayney.
