Info

A Patriot of the American Revolution for PENNSYLVANIA with the rank of COLONEL. DAR Ancestor # A076782

Daniel McFarland inherited 91 acres in Worchester from his father. He came to southwestern PA with his family before 1776, after a possible stop-over in Burlington, NJ in 1767. Daniel must have had some resources because he bought 400 acres in Amwell Twp. from John Barber in 1785 (Elk Lick), 418 acres in Amwell Twp. on Ten Mile Creek from Ephraim Bates in 1791, and 218 acres in Amwell Twp. from Samuel Tuttle in 1796 (Pleasant Grove).

Daniel commanded a company of militia rangers as a Colonel in Monongalia County in southwestern PA during the Revolution in 1778. For this service he was paid $242.50 by Colonel Hand at Fort Pitt. In 1794 he sold a little over 21 acres of his farm to the Baptists for £2.5s. where the North Ten Mile Baptist Church was built. Fort McFarland was built about 1772 in Amwell Twp., Washington County, southeast of Lone Pine near where the Ten Mile Baptist Church was built.

Buried at Lower Ten Mile Presbyterian Cemetery - Amity, PA
