I do not know the maiden name of Emanuel Dees, Jr. wife, Elizabeth or the date of their marriage. Elizabeth is an English name. Emanuel Dees Jr. died in Johnson County, NC in 1770. He was deed land in Bertie County, NC. in 1730, which became part of Edgecombe County, NC. Emanuel sold part of his land in 1734, sold another part to his brother, John, in 1740, sold the rest that same year and moved from Edgecombe county to Johnson County, NC. About 1748 to 1750, Emanuel and his two brothers, William and John, were granted about 100 acres each in Johnson County, N.C. Emanuel sold this land in 1760, with his nephew Jacob Dees, son of William Dees, as a witness.
Emanuel's children have English or English Colonial names. James City County, Virginia is the county where Williamsburg is located.
To the present there is no information about where Emanuel, Jr married but it may be assumed that he married in James City County, Virginia. He died in Johnston county, NC in 1770 at approximately 70 years old.
It can be assumed that the Emanuel Dees, Jr. relocated from James City County, Virginia or Isle of Wight County, Va. to Johnston county, North Carolina where his children or at least some of his grandchildren were born. Johnston county, NC is about 170 miles south of James City County, Virginia and is about 140 miles south south of the Isle of Wight county where Emanuel Dees, Sr. died. The town of Isle of Wight is less than 25 miles nother of the present North Carolina border. Smithfield is presently the largest city in Johnston County and is the largest city on the Neuse river that flows eastward into the Atlantic Ocean at New Bern, North Carolina.
