Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett, 18th Baron of Dunsany

Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett, 18th Baron of Dunsany was an Irish writer and dramatist, notable for his work, mostly in fantasy, published under the name Lord Dunsany.

• Born on 24 July 1878.
• Son of John William Plunkett, 16th Lord Dunsany and Ernle Elizabeth Louisa Maria Grosvenor Burton.
• Married Lady Beatrice Child-Villiers, daughter of Victor Albert George Child-Villiers, 7th Earl of Island of Jersey and Hon. Margaret Elizabeth Leigh, on 15 September 1904.
• Died on 25 October 1957 at age 79.
• Educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.
• 2nd Lieutenant in the service of the Coldstream Guards.
• Fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1900.
• Succeeded to the title of 17th Lord Dunsany [I., c. 1462] on 16 January 1899.
• Fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.
• Captain in the service of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.
• Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)
