About Elizabeth Hopkins
Elizabeth was a Cherokee woman
Biography
Elizabeth Hair was born in the Cherokee Nation (East) in 1813. She was the daughter of Hair De-Go-S-Ka Conrad and Ollie Candy, both Cherokee. She married Daniel Hopkins, a white man, about 1832. They appear on the 1835 Cherokee Census living on Candy's Creek with two daughters. [1] The family was Removed to Indian Territory in 1838 (probably in the detachment led by her father). They were the parents of Rebecca, Electa, Isabella, Sarah, Martha, and four children who died young, Daniel, Francis, Samuel, and Margaret. The family appears on the 1851 Drennan Roll, living in the Delaware District. [2] Elizabeth's death date is unknown.
