About James Hair
James Hare/Hair was born about 1802 in Candy's Creek, Cherokee Nation (Cleveland, Polk County, Tennessee) to Hair Conrad and Katie North.
James Hare and Susannah Reese had a daughter, Nancy Ann Hair in 1829.
In 1838/39, both the Hare/Hair family and the Reese family members were among the Cherokee that followed the trek (now known as the Trail of Tears) to Indian Territory in the west.
In addition to Susannah Reese, James Hare/Hair had several additional wives

He had two children, Catherine "Katy" Hair Sixkiller and Nicholas "Nick" Hare, with a woman named Sarah Davis.
And as many as eight more children (Samuel, Elizabeth, Margaret, Arimenta, James Jr, Solomon, Jesse and John) with last wife, Nellie Robertson.
James Hare served as a Private in Co. E, 2nd Regiment, Indian Home Guard (Kansas Infantry); originally buried Ft. Gibson, IT; No. of disinterment 445.
His son, Nick Hare, is also buried in this cemetery.
His daughter, Catherine "Katy" Hair Sixkiller, is buried in Sixkiller Cemetery, Adair Co., OK.
