The William Harris referred to [in the marriage record] is MAJ William Harris d1679 in Henrico, son of Capt Thomas Harris of Jamestown. This Maj William Harris married Lucy and Alice Stewart with Alice marrying again to George Alvis. here are DNA proven descendants of this George Archer and Elizabeth (no ANNE) Harris."

"Before I forget William Harris that married Mary Wells of "Troublesome Times", Hanover Co., VA is not a son of Major Harris (1629-1679) and Lucy Day Stewart.
William Harris died intestate leaving no widow or child with his only heir was his sister Elizabeth Ann Harris Archer wife of George Archer. The parents of these 2 are uncertain but may have been a Thomas Harris that died 1665 Of Langfield, James River, James City, VA
MVG v. 31 No. 2, MAY 1994: p. 137 April 1690, p. 328. "Whereas Geo: Archer did as marrying the next of Kin to Wm Harris deceased on ye first day of June last petition to this Court for Administration on ye said decedent's estate which said petition was not then granted the nine months by law appointed not being then expired; And ye said Archer now again petitioning for ye same & no other person making any manner of claim, Administration on ye said Estate is granted unto him provided he gives security according to law."

Between October 1688 and Oct 1689, George Archer married Elizabeth Harris, "the only sister of William Harris" at St. John's Church, Henrico County, Virginia.[1]

When William Harris died, leaving an estate, "George Archer who married he only sister of the whole blood and next of kin, petitions for administration of the estate. Recorded 19 April 1690."[2]
