Ellen Janette (Nettie) was the daughter of William L. and Avis Canfield Skinner. She was born June 23, 1855 in Madison, Lake County, OH. She had three sisters, Emma Jean, Ida V., and Estella.
In 1873, she married Cassius A. Flint in Lake County, OH. They had six known children: William, Jessie, Albert, Fred, Nellie, and Ada. At one point in their marriage they moved to Nebraska where Nettie and her family lived in a sod house. The marriage ended in divorce.
In 1889, she married William Allen Clark in Ohio. They had three children: Herbert Franklin, Glenn Ray, and Teresa Regina Clark Wheeler. The family migrated by covered wagon to Maquon, IL when Herb was a year old.
They spent the remainder of their lives in Knox County, IL.
