FRANCIS TRIPLETT III (FRANCIS2, FRANCIS1) was born Abt. 1704 in Richmond County, Virginia, and died Abt. November 1758 in Truro Parish, Fairfax, Loudoun County, Virginia. He married Elizabeth Browne Abt. 1725 in Stafford or King George County, Virginia, daughter of Maxfield Browne and Sarah Newman.

Francis Marion Triplett, father of Thomas (father of Abel), was born in the Richmond, Virginia area around the turn of the 18th century. He was a son of Francis and Mary Triplett, his father dying while Francis Marion was just an infant. Francis' mother Mary remarried Hugh French and it was Hugh who helped Francis apprentice under a ship master named Lutwidge [Ledwidge] to learn the trade of mariner. After a few years Francis Marion Triplett left this trade to become a brick mason. Francis patented five hundred and five acres of land in what was then Prince William County on Goose Creek in 1741. This area was later included in Fairfax County when it was formed, and in 1757 the area became part of the new county of Loudoun.[1]

He died 30 Oct 1757 [2]

He had married in 1724 to Elizabeth Browne[3] They had at least 8 children named in his Will: Thomas, William, Daniel, Mason, john, Margaret, Francis, and Polly (Pally).

It was in October 1757 that Francis Marion signed his will, which was proved November 22, 1758.

Note: Since Francis' birth father, Francis Triplett (II), had died "shortly after his birth", Francis Marion Triplett's widowed mother, Mary (Brown) Triplett, then gets married again to a close friend of the family, a widower, Hugh French (II), when Francis Marion Triplett was just an infant.

And, it was Hugh French, Francis' stepfather, who helped Francis Marion Triplett, become an apprentice under a ship master named Lutwidge (Ledwidge); to learn the trade of being a mariner. After a few years, Francis left this trade to become a brick mason. And then he married Elizabeth (Brown(e), around 1725.

Also note: Francis' wife, Elizabeth, was a cousin on his mother's side, because Elizabeth's Grandfather, William Browne, was Francis Marion Triplett's mother, Mary (Browne) Triplett-French's Uncle. Because Mary's father, Original Browne and Elizabeth's Grandfather, William Browne, both shared the same parents, Richard Browne and Eader James).

Francis Marion and Elizabeth (Browne) Triplett had at least 10 children. Francis Marion Triplett (III) had patented five hundred and five acres of land in what was then Prince William County, Va/W.Va, on Goose Creek in 1741. This area was later included in Fairfax County, Virginia, when it was formed, and in 1757 the area became part of the new county of Loudoun, Virginia.

It was in October of 1757, that Francis Marion Triplett "signed his will," which was proved November 22, 1758. And, in his will, he gives the names of at least eight of his children:

1) Thomas , 2) William, 3) Daniel, 4) John, 5) Francis, 6) Mason, 7) Margaret (who married Boylston,) and 8) Patty.

Also noted: There is no census to show for Francis Marion Triplett because he died before the first U.S. Census in 1790.

FRANCIS TRIPLETT b. ca. 1704, in Richmond County, Virginia.
He married Elizabeth, whose maiden name was not known.

Francis patented five hundred and five acres of land in what was then Prince William Co. on Goose Creek. Later, Fairfax County was taken from Prince William, then in 1757, Loudoun County was taken from Fairfax and the Goose Creek property was then in the newly formed County.

His will was proved 22nd Nov., 1758; in it he names his loving wife, Elizabeth, Executrix. To his eldest son Thomas, he gave two hundred acres of the land patented on Goose Creek and the remaining three hundred and five acres, William and Daniel were to split between them. John was cut off with five shillings, if called for; Mason was named residuary legatee in the event of the death of either of his brothers without heirs. To his son Francis, he gave a negro woman called Bess and her increase, after the death of his mother. The daughters were given minor bequests. Elizabeth did not long survive her husband, as an inventory was taken of her property in 1769. Nine children were born to Francis and Elizabeth.
