About Thomas Triplett (Colonial Militia)
Thomas Triplett was born about 1727 in Fairfax County. He was a Cavalry Trooper in the Colonial Militia during the French and Indian War (Source) Page 59 "Virginia Colonial Militia, (1651-1776) By William Crozier". Thomas Triplett and his family lived on the 200 acres which his father Francis Marion Triplett (III), had granted Thomas, that he inherited in Southern Loudoun Co, Va., along Goose Creek, in 1739-40. (Source) Loudoun County Orders Book (1667-1770), page 158.
Thomas died young at about age 42, yet his wife Elizabeth, and his son Abel are recognized by the Daughters of the Revolution as patriots for the cause. Abel Triplett seems to have taken over as "man of the house" after his fathers early passing. And he is credited with helping his mother to supply the Continental Army with thousands of pounds of beef, despite the risk of British capture and Indian raiding parties.
This Thomas Triplett should not be confused with his cousin Captain Thomas Triplett jr. who died in 1780 and was Captain of Company A of Grayson's Continental Regiment. This source here is a reference to his cousins Thomas Triplett, and William Triplett.
