Biography ==Hannah (Jewson) Powell was the 3rd wife of Joseph Powell, a soldier of the American Revolution. <ref> Find A Grave Memorial# 16246750 </ref> Hannah and Joseph migrated from Tennessee to Jackson County Missouri, where they both remained until they died.

At least two of their children migrated from Missouri, on to Oregon circa 1850. Her daughter, Anna stayed and Hannah is buried in the same cemetery with her.

Children of Hannah and Joseph include:

  • Joab "Jacob" Powell, born July 16, 1799, in Clairborne County, Tennessee, died January 25, 1873, in Lacomb, Oregon, married Anna Beeler <ref> Cited in Find A Grave Memorial # 15396114. </ref>
  • Anna Powell, born August 8, 1805, in Clairborne County, Tennessee died 1879, in Jackson County, Missouri, married James Bridges
  • Jane Powell, born August 22, 1807, in Clairborne County, Tennessee, died 1900, in Linn County, Oregon married John W. Beeler Joseph died in 1835, and was buried in the Six Mile Church Cemetery, in Sibley, Jackson County. Hannah died in 1845, and is buried in Bridges Cemetery, in Blue Springs, Jackson County Missouri. This was a family cemetery, upon the farm of James Bridges, who came to Jackson County, Missouri in 1832 from Claiborne County, Tennessee. Bridges Cemetery is in the Sni-a-Bar Township of Jackson Co., MO. Located at Liggett Road, a quarter mile west of Highway 7, it was a cornfield in 1979. <ref> Vital historical Records of Jackson Co., MO, 1826-1876, ed. by Daughters of the American Revolution. </ref> There is a photograph of Hannah's cemetery marker on her Find A Grave memorial. It is an old hand carved marker in the shape of a cross, and clearly identifies the spelling of her first name as Hannah (with an "h" at the end).
