About Helena Siggesdotter

Helena Siggesdotter

  • Daughter of Sigge Guttormsson, till Ljuna and Kristina Birgersdotter Folkungaätten
  • Born: circa 1263.
  • Death: after 1290.
  • Received 1284-02-13 papal permission to marry Ulf Holmgersson (Ama). (See Below SDHK No: 1266)
  • Hans Gillingstam has, based on Adolf Filip Liljeholm's remark, stated that since Helena is not mentioned in Sigge Guttormsson's will, it is probable that she was Kristina Birgersdotter's daughter in an unknown previous marriage 4 . Against this it can be stated that the daughter Margareta is not mentioned in Sigge's will either. Her patronymic icon is listed in the Swedish Diplomatarium's main catalog of medieval letters in a comment about her seal being Siggesdotter 5.6. For Helena, there is no preserved seal imprint, but when Margareta and Helena are mentioned together, Margareta is mentioned before Helena, which may indicate that Margareta was the older of the sisters. If the information about Margareta's patronymic icon is correct, then Helena should also be the daughter of Sigge Guttormsson. The answer about the sisters' fathers should appear from a possible patronymic icon in the legend of Margareta's seal imprint in Brother Emil Hildebrand, Swedish seals from the Middle Ages I: 33. - https://www.adelsvapen.com/genealogi/Krok

Married

  • Married: (1) Ingemar Nielsen Married to the Danish knight Ingemar Nielsen who in 1278 was killed at the castle Gälakvist in Skara during the uprising against Magnus Ladulås.
  • Married: Pope Martin (IV) gives permission to grant an exemption for marriage between King M (agnus)'s relative Helena and Mr. Ulf Holmgersson (Ama), despite the fact that these are related in the fourth line, if it is true as claimed, that peace in the kingdom between the king on the one hand side and mentioned Ulf and the other great men on the other are dependent on this marriage. They married circa 1284 February 13, of Issue: Orvieto.

Children with Ingemar Nielsen

  • Nils Krok, In Sigge Guttormsson's will from 1283, his wife was entrusted to distribute his weapons at his own discretion between Folkvid, Beno Byllasson, Hakvin Röde, Nils Krok, Yandus, Torkil, Peter Långe and Toke , in addition to a horse, his sword and helmet, which he gave to Yandus and his armor to be sold to finance his son Birger's tuition fee 1 . Three years before Nils Krok and his brother Ingemar sold their maternal estate in Valla, a Magnus Ragvaldsson sold land in the same village 12 . It is not clear from the letter of purchase who this Magnus Ragvaldsson was, but a qualified assumption can be based on the fact that the knight Karl Bengtsson together with Lars Håkansson ( beam covered with two rafters) 1344 sealed a sale in the Lekslätt adjacent to Valla in Flistads parish 14 . Karl Bengtsson's first wife was Ingrid Filipsdotter ( retrospective wolf ) who from a previous marriage had a son Magnus Ragvaldsson ( Lejonbalk ).
