Lewis MOLER made the first improvements on the STOCKWELL farm in Hamer, Highland County, Ohio in 1812. Jacob LANDESS, from Kentucky, settled on this land in 1815 and made further improvements. Not having a regular preaching time announced beforehand, on his arrival Mr. LANDESS would mount a horse and make a circuit of the neighborhood, far and near, and the neighbors would come together. Garver preached at the house of Mr. LANDESS as early as 1817.

"Among the (other) pioneer preachers through New Market, Hamer, Salem, and other townships (in Highland Co., Ohio), was Peter HAUN. He was a Kentuckian and a slaveholder.
