ATTENTION: THE WILL THAT WAS PROVED IN 1757 SUPPOSED DATE OF DEATH AND SUPPOSEDLY IS HIS AND NAMES HIS WIFE AS ELIZABETH..CAN NOT...BE HIS WHEN IT'S A FACT FOUND HIS WIFE IS MARTHA DEWEY AND THEIR DAUGHTER SARAH IS BORN AFTER THAT DATE WHICH IS ALSO FOUND RECORD DATE OF 1762.
Note
Disagreement exists whether James died in New York in 1776 (DAR thinks so), or in Sussex County, Delaware, on 5/5/1757, which is what this reference says. I've adopted the DAR interpretation, but bear in mind that it seems likely that two James Chipmans have been confused - a New England / New York one, and a Delaware one. All of James' siblings who supposedly married and died in Delaware may therefore not in fact have done so.
The will referenced above is indeed very much of interest here.
