John Blankenship (son of Ralph Blankenship and Martha Hudson/Clay) was born Abt. 1695 in ChesterfieldCo., Va, and died April 09, 1754 in ChesterfieldCo., Va.He married (1) Anne Ukn. He married (2) Elizabeth Hudson on Abt. 1720 in Chesterfield Co. Va., daughter of Richard Hudson II and Mary Bowman.

Notes for John Blankenship:

1. At 45 years of age John became the father of Isham SR Blankenship in Chesterfield County, VA, 1740. John Blankenship was born about 1695. He married Elizabeth Hudson who was the daughter of William Hudson. Elizabeth and Son William were the Exors of Will (Will Book 1:161) with Henry Walthall and Joseph Blankenship, Securities (Order Book 2:250). Elizabeth died after April 29, 1772. John Blankenship owed eight-hundred Acres of land in Henrico County in 1746. The Blankenship Family History lists son Isham Sr who had a son named Elisha. Elisha's son Barnett was in the Revolutionary War and later moved to Rutherford County, North Carolina. John lived in Chesterfield Co., Va. & was a large landowner.

Another source online says he was b. in Henrico Co., Va. & d. after 9 Apr 1751 source from Will of John Blankenship, Chesterfield Co., Va. dated 9 Apr 1751 page 161-163 will Book Chesterfield Co., Va.

2. John d. Dec. 1754 Chesterfield will (WB 1:161( m. Elizabeth Hudson, d/o William Hudson. Eliz. and son Wm. were Exors. with Henry Walthass and Joseph Blankenship, Securities. ( OB2:24). Elizabeth d. after 4-29-1772 deposition in Chesterfield, age 85, filed in Henry Co. Folder 66 Determined Papers 1788-9 concerning 2 Indians taken as servants by Henry Clay, now decd. John owned 800 ac. land in Henrico 1746. BFH listed another son, Elisha who had son Barnette in Rev. War; Barnette went to Rutherford Co. NC Elisha was a grandson, s/o Isham Sr. Children (Johns will named all; deeds; Chesterfield OB2: BFH 207)

  • To son William, 128 acres, the plantation he now lives on, next to Gilbert Elam and Thomas Moore
  • To son Joseph, the remainder of the survey above, 110 acres.

John's father was Ralph Blankenship from Chesterfield County, Virginia. John Blankenship was born about 1695. He married Elizabeth Husdon, and they lived in Chesterfield County, Virginia, where he became a large land owner and farmer. Two different Land purchases: John Blankenship, 227 acres in Henrico County, adjoining Thomas Moore and Gilbert Elam. 25 Shillings. 28 August 1746. Book 24, p. 377. Purchase two: 372 acres in Henrico County, adjoining Gilbert Elam, Clary, Belcher, and Nunnery, on the Run of the Deep Creek. 40 Shillings. 1 December 1748. Book 27, p. 55. According to records, John and Elizabeth had about ten children. John died in about 1754. The ten children were: William, Joseph, Isham, Hudson, Henry, Norvell, Matthew, Amy, Elizabeth, and Elisha. Our line was Ralph, John, Hudson, Jesse, John, Cornelius... and so on.
