Joseph was born in 1697. He passed away in 1756.

The will of Joseph Holmes of Kingston was dated 22 April 1756 and proved on 21 July 1756 in Plymouth. He mentions his wife (but not by name), and his children, Joseph Holmes, Lemuel Holmes, Melatiah Holmes, John Holmes, Thomas Holmes, Lydia Holmes, Rebecca Holmes, Susanna Holmes, and Anna Holmes.[2]

His inventory was taken on 22 November 1756 in Kingston.[3] In 1757, an account of his estate was recorded which included support for the family and administration fees.[4]
