About Nancy Jane Weaver (slave)

Suggested edit: The following could be considered racially insensitive, but I think it should be included in her biography. Nancy Jane was the child of Clara Rachel Weaver, a slave, and John Weaver, her "owner." Exerpted from "My Old Man's A White Old Man" Black Women Search for Roots by Katherine Lederer, accessed at https://thelibrary.org/lochist/periodicals/ozarkswatch/ow402l.htm : "Nancy Jane Weaver was freed when she was nineteen years of age. Nancy Jane married a man named McCarty who went to the Civil War and never came back, and was eventually declared dead. She had one child by him. She then married Carl Raymond, by whom she had six children."

Nancy Jane is my fourth great-aunt.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Mar 4 2021, 2:04:14 UTC
