About Peter Maughan Williamson
Peter was born the son of Thomas Rae and Cecelia Morgan Maughan Williamson. His wife Cora Kerr Hendry, was born January 18, 1882 in Wellsville, the daughter of John Mark and Mary Archibald Kerr Hendry. They were married October 28, 1903 in the Logan Temple. This happy couple lived all of their lives in Wellsville. They were very active in the church and community. Cora spent many hours cooking and sewing and caring for the sick. Pete was a successful farmer and especially loved helping others. When anyone needed help, they knew he could be called upon. He would leave his own work to help a neighbor. His equipment was always kept in good repair and was often borrowed too many times, but he figured if they needed it they were welcome to it.
After the death of Cora on November 26, 1926, he raised his family alone. He was very independent, never asking for any help. His children always came first in his life. He was a very kind and special father. Peter died June 30, 1947 and is buried in the Wellsville Cemetery. Peter and Cora were the parents of the following children: John Mark, Mary, Ordella, Vondella, Hildred, Howard, LaRee and Coral.
