Ruth married Thomas Rae Williamson December 23, 1872. They were a handsome couple and she became quite adept at running the farm and learned to manage without her husband, who was away for long periods of time on the railroad. After Thomas died, Ruth, with the aid of her children, ran the farm, and it was one of the best in the area. After the harvest was over, the family would move back to town so the children could attend school. Ruth's ability as a seamstress brought in extra money for the large family. She knew a great deal about herbs and medicine, and the sick and needy found their way to her door.

She was very active in the Mormon church and in social affairs. She married Samuel P. Hall, a widower, on November 10, 1893 and they had two children. Once again, she was widowed and shortly after became ill with typhoid fever. She suffered poor health up to her death on February 7, 1927. She is buried in the Wellsville cemetery.

When Thomas died, Ruth married Samuel Hall. He had recently been widowed from Thomas' sister, Margaret. Ruth and Samuel had two daughters, Sarah and Irma. Thomas and Ruth had had 5 children. Samuel and Margaret had had 10.
