Son of the then Prime Minister, Winston Churchill he suggested a rescue mission to his father to save Jews from Nazi persecution in 1943. He proposed that when the aircraft that brought military supplies flew into the area controlled by anti-German partisans, they should also pick up Jews who had escaped into Yugoslavia.

He also volunteered to be the one to parachute behind the enemy lines in Yugoslavia. His father agreed and as a result they were able to save several hundred Jews.

From 1940-1945 he was also Member of Parliament for Preston. He is buried with his parents and siblings at St Martin’s Church, Bladon, near Woodstock, Oxfordshire.

Randolph Churchill was an English author, journalist, and politician, the only son of British prime minister Winston Churchill.[1]
