Ruhamah Kirby, dau. of Richard and Jane Kirby, b. circa 1645 at Sandwich, Mass. She d. at Dartmouth, Mass. after July 21, 1707. On the latter date she and her then living siblings filed a memorandum at Dartmouth concerning an agreement made some 19 years earlier regarding distribution of their father's estate. Thereafter, there is no record of her death. She is assumed to have been interred with her husband at the Smith Family Burial Ground at Dartmouth.

In circa 1667 prob. at Dartmouth, Mass., Ruhamah m. as his second wife, John Smith, who previously was known as John Smith, Jr. at Plymouth, Mass. for being the younger of two unrelated John Smiths that resided there at the same time. They had the following eight children b. at Dartmouth:

• i. Deliverance Smith, b. before Mar. 4, 1667/8, d. testate June 30, 1729 at Dartmouth, Mass.; m. circa 1692, Mary Tripp, dau. of Peleg Tripp & Ann Sisson, b. circa 1671 at Portsmouth, Rhode Island. She d. after Nov. 12, 1730. Ten children of the family.

• ii. Mehitable Smith, b. circa 1669, d. before August 7, 1711 at Dartmouth (will of 2nd husband); on Jan. 10, 1693/4 she and husband John Russell gave brother Deliverance their receipt for her legacy from her father's estate; m. 1) July 17, 1685 at Dartmouth, John Russell, Jr., s. of John & Dorothy Russell, the younger brother of Mehitable's half-sister Hasadiah's husband Jonathan Russell, b. after circa 1653 at Marshfield, Mass. He d. Mar. 20, 1695/6 at Dartmouth, Mass. One known child of the marriage. Mehitable m. 2) Mar. 14, 1704/5 at the Dartmouth Monthly Meeting of Friends, James Burrill, who d. testate at Dartmouth Jan. 29, 1711/2. There are no known children by the second marriage.

• iii. Gershom Smith, b. circa 1671, d. Apr. 3, 1718 at Dartmouth, Mass.; m. June 6, 1695 at Dartmouth, Rebecca Ripley, dau. of Abraham Ripley & Mary Farnsworth, b. Nov. 20, 1674 (bapt. June 6, 1675) at Hingham, Mass. She d. after Apr. 24, 1718. Eight children of the family.

• iv. Judah Smith, b. circa 1674, d. Oct. 9, 1733 at Dartmouth, Mass.; m. an unknown Mary who predeceased him. Six children of the family, who were Quakers.

• v. Hannah Smith, b. before Jan. 10, 1675/6, d. after May 16, 1737; was at least 18 years old but not married on Jan. 10, 1693/4 when she gave brother Deliverance her receipt for her legacy from her father's estate; m. circa 1698, Philip Shearman (q.v., Sherman), s. of John Shearman and Sarah Spooner, b. circa 1676. He d. testate at Dartmouth, Mass. betw. May 16, 1737 and Apr. 15, 1740. Seven children of the family.

• vi. Sarah Smith, b. before Jan. 10, 1675/6; was at least 18 years old but unmarried on Jan. 10, 1693/4 when she gave brother Deliverance receipt for distribution of her legacy from her father's estate. No further record found of her thereafter.

• vii. Eliashib Smith, b. of record Mar. 7, 1676/7, d. after Apr. 21, 1757 at Dartmouth, Mass.; m. 1) Aug. 24, 1704 at the Dartmouth Monthly Meeting of Friends, Dinah Allen, dau. of Francis Allen & Mary Besse, b. circa 1675 at Sandwich, Mass. She d. at Dartmouth before Apr. 1731. Four children of the family. Eliashib m. 2) Apr. 8, 1731 also under auspices of the Society of Friends, Audrey Gifford, dau. of Christopher Gifford & Deborah Perry, b. Sept. 17, 1689 at Sandwich, Mass. & d. before Apr. 1757. There are no children of record by this marriage.

• viii. Deborah Smith, b. after Dec. 1, 1678; was living unmarried on Dec. 1, 1696 when regarding her legacy from her father's will, brother Deliverance called her "not of age to receive her legacy." No further record found of her thereafter. She was NOT the wife of Stephen Streeter, Jr. of Cambridge, Mass., the son of Stephen Streeter and Ursula Adams.
