BORN 1 July 1799 1st child of William and Lucy Pollard Olin who resided
in Jericho (now Bainbridge) Chenengo Co. NY.

See "300 yrs of Joseph Olin and his Descendants" vol 1 by Warren G. Olin,
family historian. A very good source (Library of Congress) Samuel was
their 1st child. He managed to finish 8 yrs. of schooling in the Afton
schools. In 1816 he applied for teaching position in Bainbridge school
district. Taught for 6 years.. 1822 taught in Coventry, Chenango and
1823 in Kortright, Delaware Co. By 1824 gave up teaching and decided
on medicine as a career. 1825 enrolled full time in Fairfield medical
school. 1826 was accepted as a member of Hornellsville Medical
Society. Received his certificate 10 Jan 1827. (have)

1828, age 29 he located 1st in Greenwood where he met Parmelia
Stephens in Hornellsville, while making a house call on the Stevens
family in Canisteo. She was 17 yrs old, the youngest of 10 children.

MARRIED 28 Jan 1828 in Greenwood in the new home of her parents.

1829 moved to Ossian, Alleghany, NY
1830 Ann Vernette was born in Ossian, Allegany, NY.
1830 census Perry, Genessee Ny has a Samuel Olin.
1 Dec 1831. back to Hornellsville.
1834 MARCELLO was born 1834 and they went to Greene, Chenengo NY to
take care of ailing father, but could not make a living there and went
into farming land raising cattle.

1833 finally received his Doctorate of Medicine. Listed in "1830-1840
Graduates of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Western District of
NY" at Fairfield, Herkimer Co. NY (from rootsweb.com) (have)

1834 went to Greene, Chenengo, to care for ailing father, William who
lived another 10 years. Marcello was b. 1834.

1835 in census they were living in Greene, Chenengo, NY, They returned
to Hornellsville in 1836.
1835 CENSUS Enumeration listed his home as Greene, Chenengo Co. NY
1836 They returned to Hornellsville, Steuben, NY.

1838 he reestablished his medical office in Hornellsville and continued
to practice at Hornellsville til 1850 and returned to Greenwood and
engaged in the mercantile business. He bought a farm of 108 acres on lot
11 while in practice, and also 50 acres on lot 1 and in 1852 he located
on this farm, which he occupied til his death. He seemed to enjoy
husbandry more than doctoring.

1839 Fredrick Marshall was born.

1840 census, Lyons, Wayne, NY there is a Samuel Olin.

1844 Mentioned in his father William's will (have)

1850 moved to Greenwood, near Hornellsville where he bought property
and supplemented his medical income with a hardware store and
mercantile business and established himself as a dairy farmer.
