Sarah was the daughter of Robert Hancock and Johana "Joan" Ligon. She married Arthur Moseley sometime in October 1688 in St. John's Church, Henrico County, Virginia.

Sarah was Arthurâs first cousin, his mother being sister of Sarahâs father Robert Hancock.
The Hancocks were neighbors of the Moseleys and the Ligons, and Robert Hancock, a son of Simon Hancock and his wife Sarah, the widow of Gilbert Gaye, was a man of means in the community around Lynnhaven Bay.
Sarahâs marriage to Arthur is recorded in Oct 1688/9 in Henrico Marriages p 97. She is mentioned in her motherâs (Johan Ligon Hancock) will dated Oct. 1726, probated 2 Nov 1726 indicating that she was still alive at this time.
